let your freak flag fly

A constant reminder of the sort of life I want to live.

A constant reminder of the sort of life I want to live.

I’ve had these prayer flags for quite some time. They’ve moved from my cabin in the mountains, to my first apartment here, and now reside on the deck of my dive shop. It’s where I spend most of my waking hours anyway, so it’s good to see them every time I walk out the shop door.

And no…I did not get them in Tibet. Instead, I picked them up in a little Nepalese shop in uber-hip Seattle. Someone told me that since I didn’t get them in Tibet, they were meaningless. I called him pretentious.

So if you can overlook the provenance of said prayer flags, the meaning is still the same. Peace, compassion, strength, wisdom.

Things I continue to strive for. Probably should start by not calling someone pretentious, huh? Hey…I’m still learning.
